The Let’s Move Day 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Run. September 8, 2013

On September 8, 2013, I ran an entire 10K for the first time. I’ve always been a walker. I’ve walked up to 10 miles at once. However, I’ve never seen myself as a “runner.”
While in Palau, my beautiful island home in the Pacific, I participated in my first 10K, but I would run and walk. I found it easy to get through if I could set mini goals, ie. run until I got to a telephone pole, or a certain line in the sidewalk.
This time around, I did the unthinkable, I ran a whole 6 miles, but if that wasn’t enough, I ran an additional 2 miles to complete my half marathon training for the day.
This was a stepping stone towards my goal of running a half marathon. Something I never thought possible is looking more possible which each passing week.
